The Overview We have an exciting opportunity for an Employee Relations Manager to join a new team responsible for the delivery of an employee relations service across Centrica in the UK. In this role you will be ensuring that employee relations process’ are delivered effectively, advising on ER issues and providing excellent customer service at all times. You will be joining the team at the start of its implementation into our business and will therefore have the opportunity to shape and embed the service. Location: Manchester or Staines The Role Manages Employee Relations cases, in line with ER policy, processes, tools and frameworks based on current legislation, good practice and business needs Provides specialist and technical expertise through ER case management, in accordance with Centrica policies, processes and guidelines. Provides ER input to key projects and business initiatives as required, either on a case management basis or as part of a team dedicated to supporting the needs of an initiative alongside HR shared services colleagues from other areas Monitors own performance against service standards to ensure that support and services are provided in line with established SLAs and KPIs Coaches Line Managers on management of ER issues, to ensure they take accountability and that they possess the required capability and skillset Proactively uses case management technology, recording and maintaining accurate records Identifies and updates knowledge management articles and content for access by ER colleagues, HR Partners and Line Managers Ensures compliance with legal or regulatory changes Identifies and escalates potential risks associated with ER, including proposed mitigating actions Work with Line Managers and HR Partners to proactively identify and mitigate emerging ER issues Identify high-impact ER issues/risks and implement mitigating actions in partnership with HR Partners The Person What will you be doing? You’ll be a well established HR professional with experience in a similar role, preferably having worked in a shared service operating model. You’ll thrive in a collaborative working environment and reporting to a Senior Employee Relations Manager, you’ll work alongside a team of other Employee Relations Managers in our Manchester and Staines offices, supporting our wider HR and business teams. You’ll be responsible for working with our leaders to manage employee relations cases, putting into practice our policies and procedures whilst ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You’ll live our values and behaviours and through these, increase management confidence and capability. You’ll also work on projects, providing employee relations input to support business initiatives as well as being proactive in identifying and mitigating emerging issues. Total package circa £32k – 47k (depending on experience) To be brilliant at this role you will have/be:- Experienced and confident in coaching and partnering with a broad stakeholder group from Line Managers through to Directors, with the ability to influence and challenge others An excellent understanding of UK employment law and compliance with an appetite for keeping abreast of change A passion for continuous improvement with experience of working on your own initiative to implement change Experience of analysing information to resolve complex and challenging problems by applying your logic and experience Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to quickly build good working relationships, delivering service excellence The ability to assess consequences and risk, making well balanced decisions Tenacious and enjoy working in a fast paced environment Self organised with the ability to work independently, demonstrating sound judgement with minimal supervision Experience in providing employee relations support in an HR generalist role Proven experience in organisational restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and the TUPE process is essential A CIPD or equivalent qualification Centrica plc, a FTSE 100 company, has operations in UK, North America and Europe.
