My client are a leading provider of IT services in the educational sector and are currently seeking a Network Engineer on a permanent basis in their modern office just outside of Oxford. The Network Engineer will be part of the Service Desk team providing dedicated network (Cisco, Internet and ADSL) support and excellent customer service. This Network Engineer role offers excellent opportunities for career progression and the chance to gain some valuable IT experience that will benefit you throughout your career in network support. The successful Network Engineer / Network Helpdesk Support Analyst will be manning the helpdesk acting as a vital point of contact for customers with various IT and network issues. The Network/Service Desk Analyst will also be responsible for: · Resolving support requests from customers by phone, email and on line · Deal with 3rd party network providers to resolve issues · Perform proactive monitoring and raise improvement suggestions · Highlight and implement process and system improvements · Integrate new or enhanced products and services into the team As the Network Support Engineer you will need to have the following skills and experience: · Ability to troubleshoot WAN/LAN connectivity issues/ experience supporting or implementing network related infrastructure Customer service skills including clear verbal and written communication Ability to discuss technologies and terms in “layman’s terms” Experience working on a Service Desk (ideally with client -facing and telephone interaction) · A practical and demonstrable technical knowledge and operational experience in all of the following; Cisco routers , TCP/IP, and Web technologies (SharePoint, email, video conferencing) · Competency in at least two of the following technologies; DNS, Internet connectivity (ADSL, Leased Lines, etc.), Linux, web hosting, proxies and SMTP.
