The Company: A leading national professional services firm is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join their team on a ten month maternity cover contract. The holder will work with the Regional and National Marketing and Business Development teams and Partners to ensure the offices effectively target new work and acquire quality new business and clients. This role can be based in Glasgow or Edinburgh but with regular travel to other offices. The Responsibilities: Prepare robust business development plans in line with national strategy, linking in with national service line and sector leads and working with the Partner group Deliver the office BD plans, checking progress against plan regularly, and ensuring delivery within budget and adequate ROI Undertake research to identify sector targets and support business development activity Actively manage the BD pipeline, taking responsibility for initiating contact with cold targets and ensuring contact is maintained through the pipeline, helping partners cultivate target relationships and develop action oriented targeting plans Attend networking events and encourage fee earner attendance with a view to developing leads Coach partners and managers through the business development cycle and help motivate and drive positive behaviours, acting as a sounding board for live opportunities Challenge partners on their approach to BD opportunities, and proactively take responsibility addressing any areas for improvement Project manage high value tenders and provide strategic input and advice on other tenders, ensuring the firm’s proposals process is followed Manage and advise on the use of data to ensure high quality data for targeting Adopt the role of brand champion, ensuring all communications are brand compliant and in support of the firm’s communications strategy, including driving the active use of social media Liaise and follow up with the firm’s national PR team to ensure adequate, timely and appropriate regional PR coverage The Candidate: A professional with strong marketing and business development experience at a managerial level, particularly in targeting new business and proposal project management Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of the business development process, ideally within a professional services environment Solid and relevant commercial understanding and experience Experience of managing large projects and multiple relationships Once you have sent your CV, feel free to telephone me on 0207 118 3003.
