Senior Software Delivery Manager (Marketing Technologies) Salary : £70,000 to £80,000 DOE The role: To lead and manage the Product Development team for the Marketing Technologies division, delivering industry leading, robust and innovative software solutions that are fit for purpose. Working closely with operational and infrastructure teams to meet the availability targets for Marketing Technologies products. To develop a strategy for the Product Development team to meet Marketing Technologies goals and objectives, and to improve the quality of the service and solutions it delivers internally and externally. To plan and monitor the successful implementation of this strategy. Responsible for the quality and technical approach taken by team members, ensuring it is in-line with the company strategy – and that projects are delivered on time and on budget. Creating and maintaining a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and are fastidious and proud of delivering excellence and quality. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Delivery Take full ownership and responsibility for the delivery of all projects, enhancements and support delivered by the team. Ensure projects are delivered on time. Own the quality of all deliverables. Quality will be measured using KPIs and quality standards as defined by the department Ensure projects meet functional and non-functional objectives Ensure projects are implemented using automation for development, test and deployment where agreed. Manage the delivery of large complex projects that may involve other development teams, departments or 3rd parties. Own and maintain an accurate plan and status for all current projects at all times. Ensure estimates take into account all possible risks and contain the appropriate contingency Provide accurate status reporting on all activities, issues and risks at the appropriate level to all stakeholders, both internal and external. Maintain an up to date and accurate action, issue and risk log for all products Devise and deliver mitigations to the identified risks in line with priorities Any other reasonable requests as directed by the Head of R and D Team leadership, strategy and planning Lead and manage a team of software developers and test engineers. Line management responsibilities will include recruitment, appraisals, 121 meetings, identifying training needs, motivating and performance managing the team Drive the strategic direction of our products and services taking into account new, current and legacy technologies Devise a tactical plan to implement improvements to the divisions products, services, processes and knowledge sharing within the team Identify resource gaps and skills shortages in the division that prevent successful delivery of current and future projects. Plan for team growth considering the blend and level of skills required within team Communication and problem solving Take control over critical support issues and put into place the correct escalation and processes to manage and resolve issues as soon as possible Encourage pro-active discussions with Product Management, Helpcentre, ZTS, IT, customer facing teams and other departments Contribute regularly to discussions regarding internal process and system improvements in order to ensure maximum efficiency across the division. Including suggesting technical solutions to problems Instigate cross team ideas and initiatives – to bring people, products and services together Strive to ensure that processes and appropriate levels of knowledge are shared between teams Technical support Lead and oversee all technical designs, specifications and estimates to make sure they are complete and accurate Support the business development team with pre sale activities, contributing to RFPs where appropriate and assisting in large pitches to potential clients where required Freely share knowledge, insight, best practice and ideas Work with infrastructure and operational teams on SaaS best practice design and implementation to deliver reliable products that can meet availability targets SKILLS Essential managing technical teams of a minimum of 10 people. Advanced Project Management skills including planning, risk and issue management. formal development processes. In depth, relevant technical knowledge gained at all levels on software development, up to team leader. database and web development for business critical applications using some of the following: PHP, JavaScript, Coldfusion, MySQL, C#, .NET, SQL Server Proven track record in managing the delivery of multiple concurrent SaaS products Proven ability to lead cross functional delivery teams of mixed skills (development and QA) to deliver successful projects Delivering exceptional customer service within an IT service environment. CONTEXT The Product Development team in the Marketing Technologies division is a dynamic department consisting of a number of teams, the size and composition of which may alter according to project demands. Project requirements may involve movement between teams, and varied responsibilities. The Senior Software Delivery Manager (Marketing Technologies) reports to the Head of R and D. The Senior Software Delivery Manager (Marketing Technologies) role will also involve interaction with customers at all stages in a development including but not limited to pre-sales and post deployment.
