UK Support Engineer (Caerphilly or London) ° Annual Salary £26,000 to £29,000 depending on experience ° Pension ° Flexible Benefits ° Annual Bonus ° Regular company funded social activities including Summer and Xmas Parties ° Free On-Site Parking The IT Support Engineer will provide support across the IT Infrastructure of the business, with a focus on the UK operations including PC, Server, Telephone and Network Support. You will also be assisting in the delivery of IT projects across the Link Financial Group of companies. Your Main Duties & Responsibilities will include: To provide IT Support for the UK Operations of the Link Financial Group via remote support and on-site). Assist in the management and implementation of major IT projects. Assist with the creation, implementation and enforcement of Corporate IT Policies and Procedures. Create high standard documentation detailing the systems configuration and build processes and assist with keeping existing documentation current. Participate in Corporate Information Security, Risk Management and Audit activities. Participate in the update, maintenance and testing of Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity processes. Assist in the ongoing development of existing systems and the development of new tools to increase system automation and team efficiency. Assist in the processes involved in bulk upload of vendor-provided documentation. Your Skills & Experience will include: A very high standard of written English including grammar, punctuation and spelling is critical to this role as the role-holder will have responsibilities including the systems documentation, the Business Continuity plan and other technical documentation. Ability to sensibly target the expected audience for each type of document Maintenance and development of IT Systems, often under pressure or of a critical nature will require a creative approach to problem solving. Communication with LINK staff members will be face-to-face, telephone or via email, and the Job Holder is expected to be able to communicate in an appropriate manner regardless of the communication medium in use. The Job Holder may be required to participate with the audit and RFP processes, including contact and meetings with clients or their appointed auditors, and a very high level of articulation and personal presentation will be required. As the role requires balancing of IT projects and support requests, the Job Holder needs to be able to prioritise tasks and manage expectations in a clear and concise manner. A high level of proficiency is required within the relevant systems (relevant systems include but are not limited to: Servers, Networks, Email Systems, Firewalls, Internet Connectivity, Telephony Systems (Avaya IPOffice and CM-based switches) Your Knowledge will include: An understanding of the implications of the Data Protection Act 1998 and other relevant legislation is required for the Job Holder to be able to fulfil his/her duties (if require, training will be provided in this area). 5 years’ experience in a multi-site, networked environment of more than 50 PCs is required. Experience of managing and supporting Avaya Telephony Systems using IPOffice or Call Centre based equipment is required. Experience of Project Delivery, covering at least 2 significant IT Projects is required. Proven support skills for Microsoft Operating Systems products including: All desktop operating systems since (and including) Windows XP Server Operating Systems since Windows 2003 Server Understanding of Ethernet network topologies, firewalling and TCP/IP are required. Experience of supporting Oracle 11g (client and server) is required. Programming experience is highly desirable, with experience of Perl, Java and HTML preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office systems and applications, including SQL Server and Exchange Server are desired.
