TECHNICAL MANAGER (RENEWABLES) - SALARY £35000 - BASED LEEDS This is a successful family business established in 1981 which has been installing and servicing solar thermal systems for over 35 years and solar PV systems for 6 years. They install new solar thermal and PV systems and upgrade existing solar thermal systems to enable mainly domestic homeowners to reduce their bills and get paid for the hot water and electricity they generate. Servicing their current customers’ solar thermal systems provides for a significant part of their turnover. They won Regional RHI Installer of the Year 2015 at the Green Deal and Eco Awards and achieved a 100% independent customer satisfaction rating. They’re MCS accredited, members of the RECC (Renewable Energy Customer Code) and are accredited Green Deal installers. It is a great opportunity to reap the rewards of the success you create. MAIN DUTIES – TECHNICAL MANAGER You’ll be working ‘hands on’ and will be responsible for all technical aspects of the day-to-day operations of the business including performance and systems development. Specifically you’ll be responsible for: - Managing orders and dealing with technical queries quickly and efficiently - Coordinating the ongoing service work and maintaining excellent relationships with current customers - Overseeing technical surveys for new orders, upgrades and service/installation work for engineers - Preparing and issuing correspondence including quotes, building consent applications and appeals - Ensuring MCS procedures are followed - Ensuring materials are ordered for solar PV and solar thermal installations stock levels are maintained - Managing health and safety of the site - Recruiting, managing, training and developing technical staff - Providing relevant reports to the Owner KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE – TECHNICAL MANAGER This is a family business where you will be working alongside the Owner. Ideally you will have worked in a similar fast moving environment and be able to demonstrate the flexibility, passion, commitment and enthusiasm that makes a family business so different to the corporate world. You’ll have the qualifications listed below and demonstrable techical experience within the renewables sector and a thorough understanding of the operation of solar thermal and PV systems. You’ll have the ability to engage well with mainly domestic customers and sell solutions in a consultative manner as well as managing and motivating engineers and technical support staff. Good organisational skills are a must and willingness to work ‘hands on’ on a day-to-day basis endeavouring to exceed customers’ expectations is essential. You’ll also need strong IT skills and a full driving licence. Qualifications should include: - BPEC Installation & Maintenance of Solar Thermal Hot Water Systems or equivalent Part P - BPEC Water Regulations or equivalent - BPEC Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems or equivalent - BPEC Level 3 Award in the Installation and Maintenance of Solar PV Systems or equivalent The first stage of the application process is to apply online.
