Graduate Opportunity - Asset Engineer Our client delivers clean and reliable water supplies to around 1.5 million customers within the South Staffs and Cambridge regions. This new role has been created to support the growing demand for the provision of water and to ensure they maintain an efficient and effective service for their customers. Position: Graduate Opportunity - Asset Engineer Location: Walsall, West Midlands Salary: £25,000 per annum Closing Date: Friday 17th October 2016 About the role: They have a fantastic graduate opportunity for the successful candidate to support the continued development and delivery of their risk based Asset Management strategy. The primary focus of the role will initially be to translate risk mitigation and identified investment needs into detailed scopes for costing and scheme appraisal. The key responsibilities for the role will include the following: Strategic Planning - Undertake zonal risk assessments (using hydraulic models), supporting the team in maintaining the models, the delivery of the investment programme and development of maintenance strategies. Asset Optimisation - Devising asset optimisation strategies, minimising whole life costing of the asset base, undertake asset health checks and identify any contributory factors to infrastructure deterioration and failure. New Technology & Innovation - Lead innovation and assessment of new technology with the primary aim of ensuring that South Staffs remain at the forefront in terms of the management of its assets. About you: To be successful you will be educated to at least HNC or degree level in an engineering discipline, have an open, analytical and innovative mind as well as a flexible approach to work. You will be IT literate including MS Excel. Some knowledge and / or experience in using GIS, and of hydraulic clean water modelling software would be an advantage. In addition you must also possess a full valid driving licence as the role includes some field based work. The majority of the work will be based in their Walsall region with occasional travel to their Cambridge office as and when required. Previous proven asset management, along with capital scheme scoping / design experience would also be an advantage.
