Software Development Manager – UK What are we looking for? We are looking for Software Development Manager/Technical Lead to provide technical direction for the development, design, and systems integration for client engagement from definition phase through to implementation. The position is for a hands on senior software developer / technical lead specialising in the delivery of software in a Java/ J2EE environment. The candidate will take part in the design and development of the product and supporting customers and will also be a customer facing role. The Manager will be responsible for the technical solution delivery, including but not limited to the following activities: What will you be required to do? Understand and review of customer functional requirements Input into the functional and technical design as prepared by the Business Analyst Where required responsible for technical planning, allocation and management of tasks to development team Responsible for all software quality aspects through use of code reviews and appropriate tools Responsible for technical guidance to the development team Responsible for the highlighting and management of concerns, risks and issues Single point of contact from the customer for discussion of the technical project delivery Lead the team to provide high-quality services to our clients, while implementing effective solutions. What will you need to succeed? 5 years of recent experience managing small/medium software development teams. 5 years of recent hands-on Java development experience. 5 years of recent hands-on Javascript (preferably extjs) development experience. 5 years of recent experience with J2EE Middleware (highly prefer Oracle/.BEA WebLogic or/and IBM WebSphere) design and development within a J2EE framework. Hands-on experience with HTML, ASP, JSP, WebServices programming skills. Exposure to and knowledge of stress and load testing Proven track record of technical leadership on projects, on a client facing environment. Comfortable with different delivery models – Waterfall and Agile development methodologies Call Center experience Computer science/ Engineering Bachelor’s degree; Masters degree a plus. A high-energy individual who is able to simultaneously manage multiple project activities. Attention to Detail – Ability to undertake detailed project activities with accuracy and reliability. Communication skills – Ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts to other team members including both Customer and Jacada representatives. Management – Ability to manage development teams from planning through execution. Team Work – Ability to interface and work cooperatively with teammates, customers and third-party service providers. Excellent interpersonal skills – ability to manage both the internal delivery team and client Experience in a Professional Services environment is an advantage Technical Skills ExtJS and other JS framework (Angular, jQuery, MooTools) Core JavaScript HTML, CSS, JSP programming JSON and AJAX Spring Framework XML and Annotations configuration in J2EE and Spring Java/JEE Unit Testing (xUNIT), Test First Development, Code coverage Tools etc. Good Knowledge of SOAP, REST and DB/SQL (MySQL, MS-SQL or Oracle) Eclipse IDE Familiarity with Apache Tomcat Familiarity with Oracle WebLogic application servers This job was originally posted as
