Mechanical Design/Development Engineer - Oldham £32,000 - £38,000 Pension Health Perpetual Partnerships are a North West based recruitment consultancy with a significant track record of supporting the key goals of organisations within the engineering community. The Company The company is a niche business who design, develop and manufacture bespoke electro-mechanical equipment and machinery for the rail. They are part of a multi-million-pound corporation, however, operate as an SME business in the UK. This means you have the stability of a large business with the variety and interest factor of a smaller enterprise. In response to a record year in 2014, our client is now looking to grow their highly skilled team further. The Role You will be responsible for taking projects from initial concept, right through to completion. This includes dealing directly with the customer giving technical support, coming up with the concept design (developing new 'blue sky' ideas), embodiment of the concept including developing layout, geometric tolerance and scale, doing the detailing, and product specification through to manufacture and product testing. The Person The right candidate will have a First Class (or 2:1) Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a genuine passion for engineering, and have a naturally creative and innovative mentality. You will have an appetite for coming up with new ideas, taking them from initial concept stage through to completion, and seeing the finished product. The right candidate will be able to communicate at all levels, and enjoy managing their own projects, but also working part of a team. Experience doing concept design of electro-mechanical equipment (they use SolidWorks). Excellent knowledge of mechanical engineering, in addition electrical or electronic would be beneficial, for example having an understanding of AC/DC. The right person will be confident and able to communicate at all levels, and be comfortable presenting to senior members of the company. Have high ambitions - one day they will want to run their division/company within the group. Have the willingness and ability to learn.
