Our Client is an established supplier to the road building / road construction industries. They are now seeking a Technical Sales Manager – Asphalt / Bitumen Markets. This position will be home based in the Midlands with regular travel throughout the UK & Ireland. Job Purpose Growth and management of sales to asphalt and bitumen road construction sector. Key Responsibilities Providing technical support for sales to customers in asphalt and bitumen industries. Driving new business development in the asphalt market Account management of existing customers in the asphalt market Supporting Sales Manager activities with existing customers in the bitumen market Maintaining regular and systematic visit programmes with all customers throughout the UK and Ireland. Developing contacts with customer’s technical managers and RD departments and being able to hold detailed technical discussions. Supporting the Sales Manager in the marketing of products to the owners of UK motorways and roads network, promoting the technical benefits of these to the end users such as Local Authorities, Highways England etc. Liaison with suppliers and principals, managing marketing programmes, price negotiations, stock holdings etc. Attaining a high level of technical competence in all aspects of supplier’s products, making effective use of the training that will be provided. Attending supplier’s sales meetings and industry conferences (e.g. IAT) as required. Keeping abreast of market developments to ensure that any opportunities are managed efficiently and effectively. Proactively identifying new products/services to complement the portfolio Qualifications / Experience Relevant asphalt industry qualification Educated to degree level Good technical network developed through experience within the asphalt industry Highly motivated and well organised Proven track record in sales within the asphalt or bitumen industries Ability to communicate with customers at all levels Great attention to detail, with good ICT, literacy and numeracy skills Full driving licence and able to regularly travel extensively around the UK Ideally based in the Midlands to be able to effectively service Northern and Southern regions Ideally will have some Asphalt technical service experience gained during career In return our client is offering a basic salary of £30,000 - £40,000 per annum; (salary is negotiable dependent on experience - more may be available for an exceptional candidate), plus benefits, including a company car / car allowance, and performance related bonus scheme.
