Our client is an experienced IT Services and Support provider with clients across South Yorkshire, the UK and abroad. They have a very successful and trustworthy reputation, and through word of mouth have grown the business over the last 9 years to a position of strength and are now looking to expand by recruiting a First Line IT Engineer. This should be seen as an opportunity to join an exciting and growing business, focused on customer satisfaction and good work ethic. Job Description The First Line Support Team are the first point of contact for IT queries and tickets that come in to the office. You will be responsible for initially making a decision as to either escalating or resolving the ticket. A close relationship with the Services Coordinator and other First Line Engineers is vital, as well as working closely with the Second Line IT Engineers, who will deal with second level and escalation of tickets that you are unable to resolve. You must be able to step up and assist the Second Line Engineers as required or on a specific task or project, normally within the office, but also on clients’ sites. Typical examples of work would include: - PC rebuilds - Software installations - Updating software - Password resets / making new users in Active Directory - Office 365 maintenance and administration - File / folder management and security - Basic network and broadband diagnostics - Backup failure investigation and resolution - Monitoring and logging tickets from monitoring systems Desired Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have experience working on a Microsoft Windows Server / Active Directory, and some experience with Microsoft Exchange Server or Office 365. You must have experience of PC hardware as well as software programs, and a wide working knowledge of using Windows. However, personality, and cultural fit within the company is key to this position The First Line Engineer’s role can be very demanding on your organisational skills, and your ability to handle several processes simultaneously and flexibly is very important. You will often be interrupted on a task and must not lose focus. You must be very courteous and professional on the phone, and always keep a client up to speed on their ticket’s progress.
