We have an opportunity on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border for a Consultant, Biosensor, Bio-instrumentation and Biotechnology Development. If you have an interest in developing new tools, methodologies and instrumentation for life-sciences research and diagnostics, this opportunity will give you the freedom to define your role in line with your individual aptitude and market focused interests. You'll define your focus area based on your experience and insight. You may find yourself developing systems in areas such as: high-throughput single cell analysis, sequencing systems, bio-printing, bioprocess tools, bio-analytical devices and molecular diagnostics tools. Development opportunities will be driven by your biomedical insight and you will be capable of translating this into engineering systems with reliable biological functionality. With strong commercial acumen you'll define and manage projects and enjoy working in a laboratory environment as well as having responsibility for managing technical aspects of projects directly with clients. What We're Looking For: You'll have a 1st class or 2.1 degree in a relevant scientific/technical discipline (for example physics, biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or bioengineering) with pertinent doctoral or employment experience in physical system or tool development. You will have a curious, imaginative and creative nature with strong problem solving skills You will have concrete experience gained developing life science instrumentation. You'll have a self motivated, energetic approach with a passion for developing new tools for research and clinical biological tools. You will have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, physical principles and demonstrated ability to translate biology process to physical systems A familiarity with ISO 13485 and regulated development processes and experience of project leadership would be advantageous.
