Our Royston based client manufactures complex instrumentation and consumables. We are looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer to maintain and improve Quality of supplied products and services, and to maintain and develop business processes for all activities such that all materials delivered meet specification and are entirely fit for purpose. The team is based on the Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire border, with the added bonus of having a rail station on the doorstep, with direct links to both Cambridge and London. What You'll Be Doing: Develop a Supplier Quality Assurance Strategy Maintain the material Non-conformance Report Log and activities. Create and maintain Supply Quality Agreements Liaise with the Global Quality Group regarding the Key Vendor Audit program Work with suppliers to improve the quality and consistency of supplied components and parts. Acts as a key contact with suppliers on quality related issues Ensure that both supplier and in-house inspection activities are reviewing the 'Critical to Quality' dimensions Work with manufacturing and design engineers to ensure that critical dimensions are marked on drawings Apply appropriate quality control techniques for cosmetic appearance and other acceptance criteria Install a fast and effective concessions process Ensure that the Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR's) are completed and resolve problem root causes Create and maintain non-conforming material and supplier performance metrics and present findings at Quality Management Reviews. Use the data to prioritise actions. Ensure that all technical drawings and material specification information used is at the correct issue level Ensure that suppliers are aligned to and comply with the material Engineering Change Order process Work with the Goods Inwards Inspection and procurement teams to ensure only acceptable components are used in manufacturing Carry out internal supplier quality review meetings Represent Quality at purchasing led business reviews with key suppliers Determine APQP's appropriate to the level of business risk What We're Looking For: You'll have a good qualification in Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Significant and relevant experience in the supplier quality field. Thorough understanding of material supply chain and machine component manufacture Application of Quality Assurance and Quality Control techniques for supplied materials for metal and plastics consumable manufacture. Technical and CAD drawing interpretation competence. Supplier auditing and negotiation of process improvements. Business process mapping IT literate, (specifically Microsoft Excel) Data collection and metrics creation Working knowledge of SPC, Cp, Cpk, sampling plans and techniques ie PPAP, APQP, FAIR Effective communication skills Effective management and prioritisation of tasks. Motivated by continuous improvement. Able to travel at short notice Flexibility Car owner and full driving licence Prepared to be vaccinated as required (requirement for visiting supplier sites) Bonus: Tool making for low to medium volume machine parts manufacturer Mechanical design experience Previous Purchasing and Procurement Knowledge Metallurgical qualification or background Knowledge of irradiation and process validation Commercial awareness GMP Knowledge This job was originally posted as
