UK Renal Registry System Developer Salary: £32,900 - £36,500 Contract: Full time, permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible working Location: Bristol based, with the possibility of some home-working. The UK Renal Registry (UKRR, ) is a registered charity whose purpose is to use data to improve the lives of patients with kidney disease. In the pursuit of this we are working at the forefront of healthcare technology. We are highly regarded within the renal community and, through our recent Think Kidneys campaign, have received recognition on TV and Radio. We are involved in many projects including: An open-source web application used to run the UK’s largest Rare Disease Registry ( ). An algorithm to detect and report possible acute kidney injuries from laboratory results. Research into the use of graph databases to analyse patient records coded using the SNOMED system. The UK Renal Data Collaboration (UKRDC), a data warehouse to collect and route clinical data in near real time ( ). This will support future development of analytics and decision support systems. Processing and analysing surveys received from patients across the country about the care they receive at their hospital. Running a patient portal used by over 10,000 patients each month to view their test results ( ). To assist with this work we wish to appoint a System Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills, with experience of: Python, SQL, and JavaScript. You will need to be flexible, highly motivated and have excellent analytical skills, with the ability to focus on accuracy and the detail. You must have good communication and organisational skills. You will be expected to work under pressure, prioritising your workload independently to meet deadlines. You will be working as part of a team of four IT staff within an organisation of around 30 people. Python is our primary development language though we use whatever is most appropriate for the task at hand. Our UKRDC system is being built using InterSystems’ HealthShare software for which training will be provided. The UKRR is based at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, offering good public transport links across Bristol and to the nearby train station in Filton.
