Job Title: Purchasing Manager Employment: Staff Location: Manchester Salary: £40,000 per annum Are you a Purchasing Manager? If you have answered yes to the above, then please read on as you may be an ideal fit for a new position we have located in Manchester for a Purchasing Manager paying a salary of £40,000 per annum. Our client is a manufacturer who serves the oil & gas, power, mining chemical and pharmaceutical, food & beverage and building & construction industries. The Candidate Profile Education and experience A Bachelor of Science degree in technical, engineering or business discipline is preferred; Master’s degree a plus. CIPS qualifications will also be considered. Minimum 5 years functional experience, and 3 years of managerial experience in procurement and material management roles preferred. Personality traits and practical experience Must have outstanding numerical, quantitative analytical thinking, organizational abilities and project management and negotiation skills. Experience in resolving materials flow issues, within a matrix functional organization. Ability to influence others & build productive, motivated, committed, high performance teams. Ability to build, develop and maintain positive working relationships both internally and externally. Ability for high problem identification and problem resolution, demonstrated ability to make sound judgment and decisions. Strong managerial courage, assertiveness and ability to work through resistance to change Self- driven personality; High attention to detail required High level of integrity A pronounced customer-centric focus, performance accountability, innovation & adaptability, positive energy, respect & teamwork and absolute integrity (winning right). Fluent in English and the local language of the site(s) in scope of responsibility. Additional language advantageous Knowledge & experience in working with manufacturing based technology & systems / tools, SAP etc. is key to support efficiency and measure KPI’s. The Role This position manage and organize direct/indirect materials purchasing for given site (Toll Manufacturing, Distribution or Service center), in accordance with replenishment, logistics footprints and inventory control as approved by Principal. Responsibilities may include: Leading a Tactical Team with the target of issuing Purchase orders to ensure on time and right quantity material availability at the Principal agreed price and conditions using Principal approved vendors. Managing projects within a Purchasing Environment to support specific business needs Managing Quotations, New Part Creation and Approval within the Purchasing Team The role is based in Manchester, but may require work with team members at other locations in the UK. Responsibilities and deliverables include Responsibilities Directly manage a team of Tactical buyers Manage and improve the Purchase Orders issuing process and follow up with approval compliance process, Open PO reports communication to suppliers in support of materials expediting and inventory control. Define the and constantly improve the process of Managing MRP exception to avoid obsolete material and guarantee the correct material delivery and inventory control Ensure Material Availability with correct timing to support Site production Ensure Inventory stock levels availability; support Operation initiatives on the same activity driven by Regional Planning Organization in view of end to end supply chain optimization. Manage, in agreement with the relevant Sourcing Project Leader, replenishment strategy definition and review Monitor and report Supplier OTD Collaborate with site associates and engage with vendors to coordinate production and shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays. Contribute to new products introduction for new components and depletion process for obsolete materials Ensure data reliability for Customs compliance through RFI follow ups with vendors and with company compliance teams (Country of Origin, HS codes,) Ensure Vendor and Material Master data update for process approval in control of Principal Be point of escalation for the Operations for supplier performance issues like Deliveries and Quality. Managing People Build organization capability and capacity for the team Set roles & responsibilities, cascade down and monitor objectives and development plan Inspire, influence, motivate, coach and make others accountable; raise the bar, leading the site(s) continuous improvement for the processes within Category and Tactical purchasing employees and implements policies and procedures Set standards, measure, raise competences, develop talent and address poor performance Increase functional excellence. Support Support Sourcing Project Leaders/ Category Managers in deploying Category Strategy Support Sourcing Project Leaders highlighting possibility of negotiation Support Supplier Lean Development Support Lean materials flow initiatives Support negotiation for No Strategic and Indirect material and project business within DOA approved by Principal Accountability and Metrics Material availability on time to respect Site production plan and customer request Supplier OTD Develop automatic method of replenishment strategy, in order to optimize the material flow Excess and obsolete reduction, through detailed MRP exception management Saving Lead the SQDCC for Tactical Team This is a fantastic opportunity paying a salary of £40,000 per annum 10% to 20% bonus BUPA Pension.
