LOCATION: Blackburn, Lancashire JOB TITLE: Precision Engineer SALARY & BENEFITS: Hourly rate &25 days holiday plus bank holidays & other benefits. WORKING HOURS: Shift Patterns (Monday - Friday) THE COMPANY: Our client are a family owned business who are a global partner for the development and supply of world class high precision drawn metal components. Due to continued growth, our client is looking for an experienced Precision Engineer to join their busy team in Blackburn. THE ROLE: The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing of high quality components, that meets the customer’s specification and delivery standards, whilst following current Good Manufacturing Practises. You will also be responsible for proactively contributing to continuous improvements through the Lean Sigma or 8D processes. Key Responsibilities of the Precision Engineer to include:- Setting up of tooling within the transfer press / production items to achieve conforming product Removal of tooling from transfer press / production items ensuring correct documentation is completed and that the tools are stored in a correct manner. Maintenance and repair of tooling within the transfer press / production items to maintain conforming product. Participate and contribute to pre and post tool development meetings to assist in tools being drawn and manufactured “right first time” or to ensure tooling is re-drawn to developed dimensions. Develop and manufacture tooling for use within the transfer press / production items. Weigh / record all scrap ensuring that you are minimising scrap and waste wherever possible. THE CANDIDATE: The successful Precision Engineerwill be able to communicate effectively with colleagues. You will need to be willing to further enhance your own personnel development, and will attend training courses and learning events as necessary. You will need the ability to work within a team as well as using your own initiative. You will need to live within a commutable distance to Blackburn. Key experience essential for the role of the Precision Engineer :- Be able to understand and decipher technical tool drawings. Have capability to develop and make alterations to tooling to meet customer specifications relating to new component developments. City and Guilds Mechanical engineering / NVQ level 3 or have a time served tool making apprenticeship Experience of a high precision / high volume manufacturing environment.
