Our client based in North Hertfordshire is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer. The role offers opportunities to lead cross-functional teams on exciting and challenging projects to deliver robust printing products around the world. You will work on a broad range of internal technology development projects and will be required to specify, design and deliver product solutions for a rapidly growing customer base. This is an outstanding opportunity to shape their growing portfolio of printing solutions. You must be extremely self-motivated, proactive and adaptable. You'll have a good engineering qualification such as a relevant degree or HND, and excellent communication skills. You can show the ability to deliver demanding projects to high quality, on time and on budget. Your technical skills should ideally include a broad knowledge across many of the following areas: CAD / solid modelling (preferably Solidworks/PDMWorks), mechanical/fluidic system design, materials selection, manufacturing process, electrical/fluidic schematics, root cause analysis, DFM, FMEA and able to write detailed engineering specifications. All candidates must be proficient in producing accurate drawing packages, which include manufacturing assembly drawings, detail component drawings, tolerance analysis with identification of critical dimensions, bill of materials and standard operating procedures. Qualifications and training: An HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline. Skills and experience: Solidworks / PDMWorks CAD. An open mind to problem solving using a structured systematic approach. A track record of managing and delivering technical projects. Experience of machine design directives and standards to deliver products which meet both CE and NRTL approvals. Professional experience that demonstrates an ability to lead and a drive to succeed. A desire to improve the quality of your work, to develop new skills and to take increasing responsibilities. Experience of ink-jet system development and integration would be an advantage.
