This role is based at our Microbiology (MBD) site in Basingstoke. Our microbiology products are used to diagnose infectious disease and identify appropriate antibiotic treatment, confirm that food and beverage products are safe to eat and drink, and ensure that pharmaceutical products are sterile. Our broad range products include prepared and dehydrated culture media, rapid and direct specimen tests, and flu testing kits. If your throat is swabbed to check for strep throat, microbiology makes the ready-plated culture media on which the swab is tested. Microbiology solutions also include products used for testing urinary tract infection in patients, and for identifying bacteria such as E.coli and Salmonella in food and potentially harmful microorganisms in water. Position Summary: The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for improving Supplier Quality performance and ensuring adherence to Quality Management System requirements whilst driving root cause analysis and the on-going development of increased supplier capability. This role will be responsible for the management of supplier relationships from a quality perspective, ensuring that all quality issues are resolved in a timely fashion. This is an office based role that will require approximately 30% domestic and international travel to visit supplier sites. Key Responsibilities : • Drive prioritised supplier non-conformance management and root cause analysis. • Engage with the suppliers and establish root cause analysis and compliance issues. • Interact with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, Technical Support and Customer Services personnel to review and disposition supplier related quality issues. • Assist in the introduction of new suppliers with the support of R&D, Quality Control and Purchasing departments. • Oversee incoming materials inspection programme and provide input into cost-effective testing processes and equipment with the support of Quality Control department. • Ensure Quality Assurance for existing suppliers including routine audits / assessments, review of incoming raw materials, as required, and change control process management. • Lead Supplier Quality improvements projects. • Prepare and present reports as required by management in relation to supplier activities. • Conduct internal audits. • Provide supplier performance KPIs and metrics. • Oversee the supplier qualification and management process for raw material, third party manufacturing and logistics providers. • Ensure accurate supplier data and approved supplier list is maintained in conjunction with the Purchasing department. • Supporting and implementing cost saving activities and process control requirements within the supply chain. • Provide technical and quality support to the business. • Any other tasks/duties deemed to be within the competence of the post-holder. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: • Knowledge of regulatory requirements e.g. ISO 13485, 9001, 17025 and the IVD Directive. • Bachelor’s degree in science discipline or related field with a minimum of 3 years of quality assurance experience in an ISO regulated environment. • Qualified lead auditor certification or equivalent training in ISO or GMP standards. • Medical device, GMP, EU Regulation or ISO 13485 background preferred. Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria: • Working knowledge and understanding of Quality Management Systems. • Strong experience in problem solving and quality analysis tools such Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, SPC, FMEA, Six Sigma, etc as well as in driving root cause analysis with suppliers. • Proven track record in Supplier Quality and Supplier Development. • Strong leadership skills with the ability to challenge, influence, and build consensus. • Ability to work both independently and as a team member. • Strong quality background and problem analysis and decision-making skills. • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally. • Valid driving license.
