Principal Role: With minimal support from the Science Director, you are responsible for leading scientific writing for your allocated brands. This will include researching and developing technical material, and ensuring that all output adheres to written brief, is accurate in content and editorial style and can be referenced. You will also working closely with Creative Writers, Art Directors and Digital Designers to produce scientifically robust, creative communication pieces across a wide range of media. Experience: PhD level qualification in a biological/medical discipline essential Proven medical / scientific / pharmaceutical writing experience, ideally gained in a brand communications agency Specific experience in developing promotional content for iPad detail aids preferred Must demonstrate or have the proven ability to take a job through from briefing to final delivery, with minimal supervision Skills Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills - particularly with regard to verbalising scientific content and 'translating' the essence of data to other members of the team Excellent and versatile scientific writing and editing ability Excellent organisational skills Flexibility, adaptability and resourcefulness Good time management skills Judgment and problem-solving Excellent quality control skills and meticulous eye for detail - style/consistency, grammar, scientific accuracy, proof-reading, layout, etc. Solid understanding of human pathophysiology and disease; ability to learn new and diverse subject areas quickly Ability to work within a team and form productive working relationships within and external to the company Flexibility and ability to manage simultaneous priorities and changing deadlines IT skills - Word, PowerPoint, internet searching Specific Responsibilities: Marketing Insight and Business Awareness: Demonstrate a clear understanding of the principles behind pharmaceutical marketing Demonstrate broad awareness of market place issues for your accounts Demonstrate active interest in therapy areas associated with your accounts Strategic Input into Accounts and Pitches: Demonstrate a clear understanding of communications strategies and the understanding that these should drive our approach to tactics and content Participate in research, brainstorms and other strategic meetings and begin to offer proactive advice in line with brand strategies Participate in pitch development and delivery as well as identification of new business opportunities Science Writing Skills: Competent use of grammar, sentence construction and punctuation Ability to express scientific data in a cogent manner in a variety of sales materials Demonstrate understanding of the need and ability to adapt materials to suit the target audience and the type of medium being used Demonstrate excellent attention to detail Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new therapy areas Understand the principles of referencing and production of a reference pack Understanding of the fundamentals of statistics and clinical trials Understanding of principles behind ABPI and EFPIA codes of practice Work in a code compliant manner Communication Skills and Behaviours: Learn and demonstrate appropriate skills and behaviours both internally and with clients Participate in client meetings and telecons regarding specific materials Teamwork: Recognise the importance of working within a team to achieve common goals Willingness to effectively participate as a full member of a team Listen and respect the views of others Show confidence in challenging other people's opinions Work with account team to optimise client service Demonstrate leadership to the broader Brand Communications team in terms of scientific thinking applied to their allocated accounts Engender team spirit and take collective responsibility for team successes and issues Be aware of all company policies and implement them Thank you for your interest in this role.
