Employment Type: Permanent, Full time Location: National Formulation Centre, Sedgefield The Person CPI’s National Formulation Centre are seeking to recruit a Research Scientist to prepare, test, develop, analyse and research elements in materials science, in line with the formulations strategy and industry needs. Applicants must be educated to at least degree level in Chemistry or a related subject, a PhD in Chemistry or an associated area is desirable. Significant, demonstrated laboratory experience in using measurement technology such as Raman spectroscopy for materials characterisation is essential and the successful candidate will be able to effectively use Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The ideal candidate will be committed to, and actively seek opportunities to develop themselves within this new and exciting role. The Role As the Research Scientist, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the laboratories and will offer support to colleagues working on the design and technical delivery of projects. Duties of the role include: · Discussing project needs; set up, plan and execute scientific experiments and analyse, interpret and report results to agreed timescales · Provide clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and software using an agreed format · Contribute to the delivery of formulations projects through the provision of materials science knowledge · Apply measurement techniques to demonstrate material properties · To be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure it operates in a safe and efficient manner and is available to meet customer needs.
