The Role The role of Partnership Accounting is primarily responsible for all aspects of partnership accounting including direct liaison with partners on their current accounts, drawings and tax affairs. The role acts as a key liaison point for partners in the overseas offices and the local accountants responsible for statutory reporting and compliance. As a key member of the finance team, the role will also contribute to ad hoc projects from time to time and work closely with the Financial Controller in other statutory reporting requirements. Key responsibilities will include but are not be limited to the following:- Partners Liaison point for all partners' tax & financial affairs with the firm including new joiner inductions. Responsibility for the calculation and preparation of partner drawings payments, including overseas offices Responsibility for the calculation and preparation of the partners profit sharing system including partner current account payments Work with external advisors on the preparation of annual partnership tax computation Preparation of annual partner tax reserving calculations to first review stage and assisting with the bi annual tax payments Preparation of annual and ad-hoc profit-sharing calculations plus interest on capital / current account balances Preparation of annual partner current, current tax & deferred tax statements Administration of partner capital and accounting including liaison with the firm's chosen banking partner for capital Dealing with ad-hoc partner requests such as mortgage reference letters and illustrative personal cash flow forecasts Overseas Liaison with overseas office partners and external accountants on statutory reporting and compliance including local tax returns and statutory accounts Other tax and HMRC Acting as one of the key contacts (with the CFO and FC) for HMRC Relationship Director, tax advisors and partners' accountants on tax matters Assistance with preparation of VAT returns for UK and overseas offices Assistance with other HMRC reporting requirements including the PAYE settlement agreement Other Assistance with calculating payments due to consultants and or ex/partners Assistance with the firm's cash flow forecasting in relation to partner and tax payments Preparation and posting of monthly journals in conjunction with the Management Accountants Preparation of year end journals for profit allocation, tax and capital Ad hoc projects and duties from time to time to assist the FC and CFO Candidate Required Suitable candidates will either have experience of partnership accounting and tax affairs from within a law or practice firm OR alternatively will be newly ACA qualified from public pratice into their first role in industry and will have a keen preference to work within a law firm. Furthermore the suitable candidate will also be comfortable dealing face to face with partners in a measured and diplomatic way including the ability to explain why sometimes things are not possible. Other skills required: Hard working, flexible and willing to undertake ad hoc projects and duties from time and act as cover for the Management Accountants if necessary.
