New immediate opportunities for authors or technical writers to work with a manufacturer of prestigious vehicles. We have a number of positions for authors with the ability to compile technical instructions for vehicle diagnostic procedures for new models. Job Purpose: To write diagnostic procedures, that enables a technician to rectify vehicle mechanical or electrical faults in a timely manner, with a 1st time fix approach. Turn engineering technical documents in to clear, concise diagnostic documents, that a technician can follow and understand easily, regardless of where this is in the world Create datalogger signal help text and signal values. Main Responsibilities: Create project diagnostic procedures. These include DTC help text, datalogger help text, On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) documents and step by step pin point test routines. Ensure that the team is kept well informed at all times in regards to project status' Collation of technical documentation from engineering to create service documentation Create monthly metric reporting Participate in team development activities / initiatives. Person Specification: Have previous experience with diagnosis of vehicle faults (Must) Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems (Must) An understanding of vehicle communication bus systems such as CAN, LIN, MOST and SCP. (Desired) A good understanding of vehicle datalogger systems (desired, a basic understanding is a must) An understanding or user of symptom driven diagnostics tools (desired) Capable of working with multiple D&T projects of work simultaneously, in a fast paced environment Confident in communication with internal and external stakeholders (previous experience working in a customer facing role would be desirable) Excellent verbal and written English skills Self-motivated with a positive attitude and able to work with little supervision A commitment to effective team working Excellent PC / file organisation skills (Must) Able to manage your own large projects and report monthly status to the project leader The ability to prioritise your own workload and deliver to agreed deadlines (in some instances being flexible around working hours if / when required) Must present well in front of customers Capable of working remotely on customer sites or at home as the business requires.
