Afonwen Laundry is Wales’ leading laundry and linen hire company and one of Wales’ fastest growing companies. Due to the continued expansion and evolution of the business, we are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee a busy and challenging department. This is very much a hands-on role, in which you will provide vital support to the business, working closely with Deputy Transport Manager, Office Manager and the Loading Department to ensure we provide highly accurate, on-time deliveries to our customers. We have c.18 Eighteen Ton and 1 Fifteen Ton Mercedes Benz lorry and one single articulated lorry on a fixed delivery and collection schedule to Hotels across the South of England. The ideal candidate will have a manufacturing or logistics background and be an experienced manager of a high performing team. We are looking for an organised and committed individual to drive improved performance in the team in a fast growing business. The successful candidate will be required to: - To take overall responsibility for the organisation of the Transport Department and provide strategic advice and planning support to the Deputy Transport Manager; To be responsible for managing all drivers, including van drivers, scheduling of rotas, rest days and so on in conjunction with the Deputy Transport Manager; To manage recruitment and selection of drivers in conjunction with the HR Department; To ensure the Company complies fully with all Ministry of Transport and VOSA legislation and requirements; Evaluate and review daily route scheduling and ensure efficiency in designated routes; Ensure safe systems of working for all staff under your responsibility including provision of all manual handling and other training activities; Work within monthly financial budget constraints; Must have CPC Monitor and manage individual staff performance and provide coaching and training as well as deal effectively with any performance or disciplinary matters in conjunction with the HR team Be prepared to be flexible with hours worked as we operate 24/7 In return, we will offer a competitive salary of circa £30,000- £32,000 depending on experience and the opportunity to work in a long-term, stable, and family-run business, where there will be opportunities for career progression over the years ahead.
