Cordant Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading Automotive business, recruiting for an experienced Manufacturing / Assembly Line Team Leader to join their front line management team at their site in the heart of South East England working on a 3 shift system Monday to Friday (6-2/2-10/10-6) Role Overview: Driving and leading the manufacturing team in achieving the operation objectives in terms of safety, quality, cost, delivery and supply, increasing output levels without compromising on safety or quality. Participate and lead departmental Health & Safety meetings and to seek to actively address safety issues. Responsibilities of this role: Support the Shift Manager in controlling the headcount within your department Knowledge of quality standards TS16949 Using the escalation procedure for any issues/concerns eg. Quality/downtime Hands on flexible approach to ensure smooth production flow Multi-skilled in operating to provide training and absence cover Main duties of the role: Ensure all production requirements are met in line with quality, cost and delivery constraints Liaise with Technical / Lead Operators on previous and oncoming shifts to identify and control production issues Stepping in & Covering for the Shift Manager in their absence Leading a team in achieving the shift targets and correcting failure Prioritising of workloads and rescheduling production plans to meet customer requirements Assisting the Shift Manager with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvement for your area Manufacturing / Assembling of parts to the required quality standards, following the work instructions Manufacturing / Assembling of parts within production time requirements Promoting & encouraging team working at all times Delegate & Organise work allocation for your area Assisting in the training, coaching & mentoring of new members of the production / assembly team Participating & leading CI projects Promoting of good housekeeping at all times Actively participate in first off procedures, quality checks and audits for your production area Undertake / oversee product and process monitoring and measuring Carry out equipment audits Participate in materials inspection and checks Maintaining inventory controls Provide periodic absence cover Participate and lead, where applicable, in the departmental risk assessments under the direction of the Health & Safety officer. Acting as the departmental safety reporting point. Maintain the departmental safety boards. Participate and lead, in the departmental safety meetings and the Health & Safety Meetings. Continuous Improvement Activities Skills & Experience: Team Leader / Supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment (preferably Automotive or similar) Strong training, coaching, motivation and team building skills Possessing strong decision making and problem solving skills Analytically minded Ability to work under pressure & to prioritise work loads / delegate duties effectively Lead the team from the front, hands on role Self-motivated and focused, with a flexible attitude Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, quality & accuracy focused Strong attention span with a good eye for detail Successfully able to follow formal procedures Observant and able to spot work flow risks and bottle necks Possesses manual dexterity Ability to work on own initiative Professional communication skills Strong literacy & numeracy skills Health & Safety / SSOW experience: IOSH trained would be a benefit Experienced in carrying our work place Risk Assessments Familiar with Accident Investigation procedures Experience of carrying out Workplace Inspections Process Procedure Training This role is commutable from Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire PMP Recruitment Ltd is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
