The Role: We are seeking experienced and motivated Operations Shift Leaders to join our operations team to assist us in delivering consistently high standards of production for our generic and branded products. We have both night shift and double day shift opportunities available. Both come with a generous shift premium. Leading a complete shift, you’ll manage a team of up to 20 general and technical operators (and occasionally contractors), delegating tasks and checking the output in order to meet the department’s objectives. Working closely with other departments (e.g. Quality, Engineering) you will be confident of your ability to meet production schedule requirements, assess resource needs, materials and equipment. Responsible for the line management and recruitment of your team, you’ll be experienced with managing and monitoring individual performance, creating development plans or taking remedial action if appropriate. Valuing safety and quality, maintaining compliant operations is at the core of the roles, and understanding policies, good manufacturing practice (GMP) and environment, health and safety (EHS) standards and experience of following regulatory requirements and SOPs to the letter is essential. Where deviations occur, you’ll action and close CAPAs and Change Controls in an effective and timely manner. To ensure quality levels are maintained, you’ll participate in regular audits, champion our Continuous Improvement initiatives, and contribute to projects to guarantee they come in on time, in budget and to the required standards. In addition, you’ll deputise for the department Manager and provide cross shift support, as required. The Person: With significant experience in similar complex operations, engineering, manufacturing or packaging management role(s), ideally in highly regulated ‘clean room’ environments, you will have a good understanding of quality management systems (QMS), a sound technical aptitude and be experienced working with GMP guidelines and EHS standards. Strong people management experience is essential for this role; you’ll enjoy motivating and developing your team and be confident to have the more difficult conversations, administering and upholding HR policies and procedures as required. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in written and spoken English), who can operate with diplomacy and be able to evidence clear and confident leadership when needed. With a strong sense of drive, you’ll be well organised, able to juggle multiple tasks at once and react to changing work priorities in a calm and logical manner. You must be computer literate and ideally be qualified to degree level (or with equivalent experience), willing to develop as required.
