Demob Job Reference: J2691 Job Title: Field Service Engineer (Mechanical & Heating) Location: Woking, Surrey Salary: £26K - £30K DOE Benefits Introduction: Our client provides maintenance services to energy assets and ancillary equipment and also provide specialist contracting expertise. They now require a Field Service Engineer to join their team in Woking. The ideal candidate will live within a reasonable commuting distance of Woking and will attend customer sites to carry out a variety of service, installation, maintenance and repair tasks. You must have a strong mechanical and heating background. Please note candidates must be flexible in their approach to travel and will be required to undertake an on-call rota. This presents itself as an ideal opportunity to join an established company and, although not essential, could be well suited for a person who has previously served in the Armed Forces i.e. Royal Navy, Army or Royal Air Force (RAF) and has previously worked within a similar role i.e. Marine Engineer or Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). Responsibilities: - The successful candidate will attend customer’s sites and carry out planned preventative maintenance, remedial and breakdown works ensuring that the quality of technical work is of a high standard and in compliance with statutory requirements. - Provide first line of defence emergency call out availability to intervene 24 hours, 7 days/week to resolve urgent operational matters across all contracts. - Planning and undertaking scheduled maintenance to assets identified under relevant contracts. - Attending breakdowns to assets across relevant contracts. - Diagnosing faults to assets identified under relevant contracts. - Ensure effective use of time and resources to provide an effective service to customers. - Ensuring projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time. - Fitting new parts or repair old and making sure equipment is working correctly. - Sourcing and obtaining specialist components, fixtures or fittings when required. - Managing stocks of supplies and equipment. - Maintain high standards of housekeeping at all times. - Making sure the works comply with legal requirements and Health and Safety legislation. - Creating and maintaining maintenance procedures, H&S documents, reports. - Assessing sustainability and environmental impact of projects. - Completing work request paperwork accurately, in detail and is submitted in good time as dictated by priority. - Communicating in written and verbal format to other members of staff. - Completing of cost, time, and resource (CTR) requests for estimating of works for submission to Line Manager. - Completion of leave requests in good time to Line Manager to help with work planning and on call rota. Applicant Requirements: - It is essential that the successful candidate will have a strong Mechanical / Heating background and will hold a relevant Engineering Apprenticeship and Mechanical/Heating qualification (i.e. City & Guilds, NVQ standard). - Ability to maintain and repair commercial pumps, motors and valves. - Prepared to undertake necessary work on district heating systems (large and small). - Gas powered CHP (Combined Heating Power) experience is desirable but not essential. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - An eye for detail and good design. - Strong communication skills. - Ability to work well both as part of a team and unsupervised. - IT Literate: MS Office. - Please note that this is a field based role so flexibility is required, you will also be required to undertake an on-call rota (1 week in every 5). - Hold full driving licence.
