Senior IT Systems Engineer: Here at Ageas, our IT Infrastructure supports our businesses across 11 UK locations. As the Senior IT Systems Engineer, you'll be an integral part of the IT team monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising our networked software, hardware and associated operating systems. Skilled in a Windows or a Linux environment, you'll be able to demonstrate a capability in some of the following: MS Exchange, SQL Server, VMware, SAN, LAN, WAN and Data Security and be able to get to the root of systems issues and products. We're looking for a Senior IT Support Engineer who's commercially focussed with all round generalist experience because you'll be working with specialist teams and stakeholders in promoting ideas and problem solving in both technical and in a user-friendly language. Here's some of the responsibilities of the Senior IT Support Engineer role: · Work with Ageas IT staff members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and to identify and resolve business systems issues. · Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems. · Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems, ensuring that these systems deliver operational system availability according to agreed SLAs. · Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. · Ensure system connectivity and efficient performance of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications. · Monitor capacity and system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports. · Manage incident and request escalations through to resolution, including root cause analysis and remediation, with the aim of reducing overall service record volumes. · Recommend, schedule and (where appropriate) apply fixes and security patches, and any other measures required to avoid a security breach. · Extensive experience and knowledge with core software applications, including - Active directory - Windows and/or Linux Clients and Servers - System monitoring and capacity reporting - TCP/IP (DNS, DHCP, HTTP, SMTP, Telnet, ICMP etc.) · Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting experience · Working technical knowledge of, and extensive application support experience with at least 4 of the following: - Exchange Server/Email technologies - SQL Server - VMware (servers and VDI - Networking (LAN/WAN & VPN technologies)- - Network Security (Firewall/VLANs). - Data Security (Anti Virus, DLP, Log/Event management) - SAN/Storage technologies (HP, EMC, IBM, Brocade, Qlogic) - SSL - Web servers (Apache/IIS) - Backup technologies (Symantec, Tivoli, Veeam) - Printing solutions · Working knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows, Linux, Cisco, Extreme · Business Continuity Planning and execution · Competence with documentation and diagramming tools · Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives · Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws · Practical, working knowledge of ITIL framework About Ageas - AgeasUK We’re focused on our people and we embed our values and employer value proposition into all that we do.
