My client are the leader in their field. They are responsible for the design, manufacture and supply of high end, high performance structural glazing systems and its derivatives for the commercial construction and architectural sectors. A vacancy has arisen for a Business Development Manager to join the team and cover the northern region of the UK (from the Midlands up to Scotland). Reporting directly in to the Commercial Sales Director, the position will be home/office based due the geographical territory for which you will have responsibility, although travel to the companies manufacturing sites in the North will be required on occasion for sales meetings etc. Job Purpose The purpose of the role is to maximise the profitable sales of the Glass Systems and associated products to the commercial glazing sector of the UK market via work with specifiers and customers. In addition, to generate appropriate glass specifications via interaction with Architects and the professional design teams and protect these specifications as they progress through the Contractual Chain. The jobholder will also key account manage Accredited Installers and other target customers within the identified geographical area. Key Responsibilities • Establish and deliver sales within the identified geographic region in line with business financial targets. • Working with other members of the sales and commercial team and have a major input into the establishment and delivery of the sales plan. • Play a key role in developing market demand by interaction with key and influential clients, architects, specifiers and other members of the Professional Team to generate appropriate and sustainable specifications. • Works closely with the Customer Service Manager and Team to provide a service to delight customers, which in turn will generate greater customer loyalty with increased sales and margin potential. • Key account responsibility for the members of the Accredited Installer Network and other target customers within a given geographical territory. • New account/Accredited Installer generation and vetting, including but not limited to financial stability, payment terms, design, commercial, project management competencies and fit with the aims of the brand. • Takes a lead role in major project identification, monitoring and securement. • Working with the Commercial Manager & Estimator generate and implement a pricing strategy in line with the Pricing Excellence process to maximise margin potential. • Work with the Design Team to ensure safe and appropriate designs are proposed and supplied on projects. • Identify product and market opportunities and work with the Design, Development and Commercial Team to extend and develop the System and market opportunities. • Successfully work with other members of the wider Commercial Team to ensure optimum sales opportunities across the full range of UK & I products. The Person The jobholder will be a senior sales professional with strong commercial and technical skills, and preferably have extensive market, product and competitor knowledge within a similar field. The role requires that the individual is capable of influencing and communicating on commercial and technical issues with the highest profile architects and design consultants throughout the UK. Applicants should possess effective communication skills and demonstrate the ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external customers to maintain and build vital relationships.
