Our client, a long established manufacturer of high quality and technical injection and blow-moulded plastics, on the outskirts of Sheffield are looking to recruit a technically-minded trainee manager who has big ideas for the future and an entrepreneurial streak. The successful candidate will be trained in all areas of the business, developing innovative and exciting ideas for the future, with a view to taking a significant role in management and shaping the direction of the firm in future years. You will be expected to work closely with the Managing Director and rotating through a range of responsibilities to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the company, its projects and workforce. Typical activities might include: Working on the shop floor seeing projects through from inception to completion Conducting day to day administration and getting hands-on experience to understand the back office and what goes on behind the scene's Meeting suppliers, clients and other major partners to understand how the industry functions, and gaining an insight into different relationships Working directly with colleagues, suppliers and customers to ensure the smooth running of different projects Analysing new and upcoming projects to assess their potential, and their impact on the business Co-ordinating and managing client projects, from quoting and account set up to overseeing production and issuing invoices The successful candidate will: Have entrepreneurial flair, comfortable and confident questioning how and why things are done the way they are Be flexible and adaptable; you'll be helping to shape your own experience and progress Be confident with figures and have a high capacity for learning new software Have good communication skills, able to speak with people at a range of levels both internally and externally Have a basic understanding of how a business works (cash flow, project life cycles etc) Ideally have some experience or interest in polymers This job was originally posted as
