Location: Fareham Contract type: Permanent Salary: Competitive plus bonus and great benefits A role has arisen working for a global FMCG as an Operations Manager to join the Distribution & Logistics management team, responsible for directly managing 9 supervisors and indirectly a division of 200 staff. Ultimately, the role is responsible for managing all Distribution & Logistics activity, including the receiving, storage, picking, packing and delivery of goods meeting customer expectations and department cost objectives Duties will include: Provide a safe working environment by working with the DC & Logistics Supervisory Team, and Health & Safety Manager to ensure year on year improvement in all relevant KPIs and embedding the behavioural safety program in every area of the UK distribution sites. Ensure the Distribution & Logistics function support the UK & Ireland Region by delivering monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets Ensure the UK Distribution and Logistics function is effective in supporting a multi-channel environment that includes Online Fulfilment, Retail and Wholesale distribution, with particular focus on delivering an omni-channel experience. Monitor daily capacity and volume targets and ensure they are delivered in the most cost effective, efficient and timely fashion. Meet financial and productivity objectives by scheduling expenditures, analysing variances, initiating corrective actions. Identify and deliver cost saving opportunities. Manage capability levels and talent management processes through recruitment, training and performance management. Ensure all HR and Health & Safety policies and procedures are communicated, understood and adopted. Compile, track and review KPI suite for the Distribution & Logistics function and, where necessary, identify trends and take swift corrective action. Performance manage where necessary to drive KPI improvements. Maintain physical layout and condition of warehouse planning and implement new design flows, inspect equipment, issue work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement. Be a key exponent of change and manage employee communications, motivation and offer support and structure for your direct reports. Complete daily, weekly, monthly reports for the operation. The successful candidate will have: A proven Manager/Supervisor with experience of team development and exposure within a fast paced operational environment would be desirable. This is a hands on role and will suit a confident, influential and flexible leader with excellent commercial acumen and a proactive attitude. Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and listen with others is required, as is a positive attitude, confidence and a strong people presence across all levels within the business. Ability to align and engage the team to achieve the Company’s vision, strategy and goals. Knowledge of SAP, SAP Warehousing and other warehousing management systems is advantageous. Courage to initiate and lead change to drive success. Creativity and innovation. Ability to identify and cultivate essential skills and attributes to maximise individual contribution and engagement. Must be a self-starter, proactive and able to handle a multitude of projects at any one time, as well as seek ways to improve personal and organisational effectiveness to meet current and future business needs.
