Night Care Assistants / Night Support Workers Respite Care & Housing with Care Three Posts available: 22 hours, 33 hours & 44 hours per week Our client is a local charity providing services and support for older people aimed at improving their opportunities and quality of life as well as raising public and media awareness of their needs. They are currently seeking to recruit one full-time and two part-time experienced Respite Care Workers to deliver night time care support and monitoring services to the organisation's service users. The successful Night Care Assistants will have overall responsibility for providing a quality care experience for service users in the Respite Service and tenants in the Housing with Care Service during the night shift. The roles require a detailed understanding of the needs of older people, the ability to identify changes in well-being, the use of care/support plans and risk assessments to identify and provide support and care requirements and the ability to liaise with Health, other professionals and carers/relatives Each Night Care Assistant work two, three or four 7.30pm to 7.30 am shifts per week includingalternate weekends. Your duties as a Respite Care Worker / Night Support Worker will include: Promoting a person centred service, offering choice, encouragement and a flexible and creative approach towards every service user and their needs ensuring that service users’ personal, emotional and physical needs are met at all times. Adhering to instructions from verbal care handover meetings, written communication books, written care and support plans and risk assessments Regularly monitoring service users’ well-being and safety and recording all data using both written and electronic formats. Update care plans, contact sheets and risk assessments as required. Seeking medical assistance from out of hours GP, district nurse or paramedics as required. Ensuring that all medication is administered in accordance with the organisation’s medication policy and procedures and service users Medication Administration Records and medical documentation. Undertaking the full duties of laundry of service users. Undertaking cleaning tasks in accordance with checklists. Attending staff meetings as required and participate in appraisal and training schemes. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualities: NVQ level II in direct care or related qualification. Experience of working in a similar care setting with older people with physical disabilities, mental impairment, dementia/Alzheimer’s disease. An understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Opportunities principles, particularly in relation to employment, service provision & older people. An understanding of the Health and Social Care Act 2008, the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety and to contribute to the required outcomes monitored by the Care Quality Commission. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Have a positive outlook; be reliable, flexible and readily adaptable to new situations. Ability to exercise judgement, prioritise and use initiative. Able to stay calm under pressure or in a crisis Own car and full driving licence is desirable, but not essential. Salary and reward package: £7.69 - £8.16 per hour depending on skills and experience. 30 days annual leave including bank holidays (pro rata). Healthcare Cover.
