Our client has a unique opportunity available for a D&I Engineer to join the team in Solihull. The role is a full time, permanent position offering a salary of £40,000 and £50,000 per annum. Our client was formed in 2004 to address the rapidly growing IP and network requirements of national and international business organisations. Ten years on, they still only focus on the design of scalable, cost effective, flexible, integrated network access solutions across the Wide Area Network (WAN). The purpose of the D&I Engineer role is to provide networking technical expertise within the business as part of the D&I (design & Implementation) Engineering team who are responsible for, design, implementation and configuration of network builds as part of the end to end process of building customer orders. This person will also be involved in implementation of complex customer network projects which may involve some onsite installation work and some out of hours’ work to support network installations outside of normal business hours What are the responsibilities of the D&I Engineer? - Responsible for the design and implementation of customer LAN / WAN network solutions - Responsible for creating Low Level Design documentation packs and providing Technical support to Project Managers during the delivery of complex network solutions - Responsible for building / testing network configurations including: LAN, CPE, PE and Core devices - Provide remote support for the field engineering to complete the install and testing of standard network solutions - Carry out on site technical implementation for complex network solutions / network transitions - Provide Early Life Failure support for any incidents relating to newly delivered network solutions - Provide Technical support on customer conference call/meetings to help define the design, build and implementation approach for more complex network solutions - Handover of customer’s solutions to in-life support ensuring that any network diagrams, special instructions or supporting documentation specific to the customer’s environment are clearly described - Act as an internal and customer escalation point, for all technical build configuration issues and project Related technical issues - Take ownership of network build related tasks or projects and driving through to completion within the agreed SLA / OLAs - Excellent interpersonal skills. possess an excellent understanding of their Change Management process ensuring strict adherence at all times - May be required to take part in on call rota to provide OOHs Incident support - Adheres to all company policies and processes What skills do I need to have to become a D&I Engineer? - Experience working in a Service Provider environment supporting and / or implementing WAN / LAN network routers / switches - Experience in configuring routing protocols including: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, HSRP, VRRP, VPN’s and QoS - Experience of working with Telecoms providers such as BT, Colt, Virgin-Media, and Vodafone Able to manage and prioritise team work streams and deliver to tight deadlines - Must hold a full / clean UK driving licence and willing to travel on occasion - Previous experience of configuring Cisco LAN switches, CPE, PE and Core network devices - Previous experience of configuring other vendor LAN / WAN network equipment such as: HP, Huawei, or Extreme would be advantageous - Previous experience of building / configuring Firewalls devices, such as Fortigate, Cisco ASA, Checkpoint, Palo Alto etc. would be beneficial - Experience working with Cisco Voice platforms and knowledge of SIP trunking would be beneficial - Experience working with Wireless technologies including Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Aerohive etc. would be advantageous - Any previous experience of Voice or SIP trunks would also be beneficial - Previous experience of using CRM Systems including: Salesforce, Remedy etc. preferred Qualifications: - CCNP qualification preferred but someone with CCNA who is working towards their CCNP and is able to display technical knowledge / skillset at CCNP level will be considered - Additional Network vendor qualifications such as Huawei, Checkpoint, HPE, Aruba, Extreme etc. would be beneficial - Hands on Firewall experience working with either Fortinet, Cisco, Checkpoint or Palo Alto Why not click ‘apply’ today?
