As part of our newly transformed IT Department this is your opportunity join our senior management team to help shape, develop and manage our specialist IT Portfolio and Projects team to help drive the delivery of next generation Digital Services. This role will be key in harnessing the power of information, consider emerging technology solutions and delivering a diverse portfolio of services to help us achieve our vision of delivering great digital Services that will help change people’s lives. Job Purpose Our vision is for IT to be a valued business partner, providing innovative services to our students and staff. As a solutions focused IT Portfolio Manager you will provide strategic direction working with the wider university and IT Services to help drive the delivery of an £6m pa change portfolio to lead or underpin transformational change within the university. You will provide leadership and direction for a growing team of project managers and business analyst, implementing best practice and industry standards to help establish an innovative, solutions focused and agile portfolio team. As part of the IT leadership team you will play a major part in setting direction and leading the IT function as a whole, developing talent and ensuring good governance. The person You will bring to the role extensive, relevant knowledge and experience of IT best practice including: Significant experience with a proven track record of managing multiple successful application and technology portfolios/programmes within both the traditional and agile methodologies Strong leadership qualities with experience of managing and developing a project, programme or portfolio team Experience of directing and overseeing multiple large and complex projects and budgets Strong stakeholder management at all levels with internal and external partners with the proven experience of developing strong relationships across organisation boundaries Experience of acting in a change capacity with a passion for harnessing information systems and technology to improve efficiency and organisational effectiveness Communication You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to challenge and influence others, develop and maintain collaborative working relations across IT and non IT departments; High level, proven inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to act at a senior level internally and externally.
