A number of opportunities have arisen to join our Installations Supply Chain Unit as Manufacturing Systems Engineers to work on the development & creation of a new facility. In this role, you will support the Additive Layer Manufacture (ALM) Project and report to the Manufacturing Systems Manager. You will have the opportunity to lead and identify the systems requirements for the new facility and project manage the development & deployment of these solutions to create a new digitally SMART Additive Layer Manufacturing Factory. The Installations Supply Chain Unit has global accountability within Rolls-Royce for the design, manufacture and supply of a wide variety of components and assemblies - including: Complex Fabrications, Externals, Precision Machining & Casings & Rings. The SCU has operational facilities in Hucknall, Bristol and offices in Derby and each Global Region. The role will be predominantly based in the Derby / Hucknall area. Key Accountabilities Develop & optimise factory design through the creation, use of simulation models. Gather requirements, working with functions / suppliers to develop ideas. Digitally integrate OEM machine tools with enterprise level applications i.e. MES, Measurelink, Inspect & CAD/CAM systems. Work effectively with the cross-functional team, the Manufacturing Systems Centre of Competence (MsCoC), Rolls-Royce IT & suppliers to achieve business success. Define, develop & optimise factory design of an ALM facility through the creation, test & demonstration of simulation models. Responsible for the integration & optimisation of application systems to create a digitally SMART factory. Lead the integration of various OEM shop floor applications with enterprise level applications i.e. MES, Measurelink, Inspect & CAD / CAM systems. Act as the lead engineer to the ALM Project, Manufacturing Systems Centre of Competence (MsCoC), Rolls Royce IT Project and IT GSM teams. Ensure Methods of Manufacture for new components are developed which meet the customers' requirements for quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness and ensure the level of systems integration & performance is sustainable. Work with ALM Project, MsCoC, Engineering Improvement Centre (EIC) & Design Engineering to develop & implement optimised system solutions for Computer Aided Design (CAD) & Computer Aided Manufacture (CAM) for the ALM process to ensure rapid product development. Support the continuous development of the systems capability & competency of the Installations Manufacturing Engineering community & business to embed solutions & deliver significant process improvement. Qualifications Ideally be qualified or aspiring to degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent or possess significant relevant experience. Manufacturing Engineering experience would be beneficial as well as the ability to network effectively at all levels within Installations business & the Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Systems CoC (MSCoC), Rolls-Royce IT and the Engineering Improvement Centre (EIC) communities. Must be energetic, enthusiastic team oriented individual with a passion to succeed in a high profile role and a vision of how modern manufacturing should be achieved. Computer savvy & have a real interest in the digital world & technology Experience of existing Manufacturing Systems & CAD / CAM PLM tools would be very helpful. Ability to plan and maintain various work streams each with centrally controlled dependencies managing stakeholders across the Installations SCU where appropriate. Proactive and can deliver. CAD/CAM skills, strong PM skills. Awareness of technology and be excited by it, someone who has the mindset that wants to make changes to improve and enhance. Be a logical thinker.
