City of Edinburgh Council Job Description Children & Families Pupil Support Leader The Royal High School Salary: £43,845 (Subject to job sizing) Hours: 35 Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education. Based in the west of Edinburgh, The Royal High School is one of the oldest schools in Scotland, and has a strong sense of history, but prides itself on being very much a school of the 21st Century. It is a non-denominational 6 year comprehensive, with pupils drawn from 4 catchment primary schools: Blackhall, Clermiston, Cramond and Davidson's Mains. A significant number of placing requests are received each session. Year groups are capped at 220, and the school roll is currently 1259 for session 2015/16. The school was the subject of a HMIE inspection in 2007, and local authority follow-through visits in March 2009 and May 2010. The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) comprises the Rector, three Depute Rectors and the Business Manager. The current teaching staff complement is 86.89 FTE with 21.21 FTE staff other than teachers. The Pupil Support Team (Guidance) comprises of 5 Pupil Support Leaders supported by a School Support Assistant. The school was refurbished in 2004, and enjoys a high standard of accommodation. The facilities are used extensively outside normal school hours, and the school has recently been designated a Community Sports Hub.ICT facilities are very good, and have recently been upgraded.
