RGU Job Summary Are you the person who can help deliver and develop our growing Streetsport project? The Streetsport project aims to tackle anti-social behaviour in Aberdeen City, by utilising mobile sports arena’s to encourage young people to try a whole range of both sporting and non-sporting activities in areas where high levels of anti-social behaviour exist. You will assist in the delivery and implementation of the Streetsport programme to youth’s across the communities of Aberdeen City. Our exciting long term strategy is now being rolled out and we want you to be able to say “I played a part”. The role involves leading a team of ad-hoc sports coaches and volunteers to utilise two mobile sport arenas to deliver sporting activities to targeted areas of Aberdeen. You will have experience of leading activity sessions ranging from sport to art within areas of Multiple Deprivation, have good communication skills, have a good basic health and safety knowledge and have a strong commitment to customer care. You will be up-to-date with all developments in the field and hold a full driving license. Relevant youth work qualifications and NGB coaching awards are desirable. Enthusiasm and motivational skills are a must, as is the ability to relate well to youth’s from various backgrounds. Experience of working in a team but also using your own initiative is also imperative. In short, you will have energy, drive and dynamism and be committed to playing a major role in the running of the Denis Law Legacy Trust’s “Streetsport” programme and help provide an excellent service to both its partners and more importantly the youth’s of Aberdeen. Closing Date: 21 October 2016 Interview Date: 28 October 2016 Job Description RESPONSIBLE TO: The Streetsport Development Officer RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers, Soccaristas and Streetsport participants PURPOSE OF POST: Ensuring Streetsport sessions are run safely and effectively, To provide a rewarding volunteering experience as well as overseeing mentoring of both volunteers and Soccaristas (young volunteers). Coordinate a structured programme of activity for young people across Aberdeen. PRINCIAL DUTIES: Assist the Streetsport Development Officer to ensure that the aims & objectives of the Streetsport programme are met. Oversee the marketing, promotion and running of Streetsport sessions/events. Have an understanding of Health & Safety procedures. Assist in volunteer management, recruitment and coordination. In collaboration with others strive to ensure that key targets for the project are met. Be prepared to work with and develop the potential of young persons in challenging situations. Commit to the principles of the Streetsport project. Whenever possible promote the ethic of Streetsport. Build effective working relationships and co-operation with other managers and staff of all present and future partners involved in the project. As appropriate, represent the interests of StreetSport in relevant internal and external fora and to relevant external organisations.
