RGU Job Summary Are you the person who can help deliver and develop our new Streetsport Dance project? The Streetsport project aims to tackle anti-social behaviour in Aberdeen City, by utilising Dance to encourage young people to try an exciting urban activity in areas where high levels of anti-social behaviour exist. Streetsport are looking for a successful candidate to assist in the delivery and implementation of our new Streetsport Dance programme to youth’s In the Aberdeen community of Torry. The successful applicant will work 1 day a week split over two evening sessions. This role involves leading a team of fantastic volunteers to utilise fixed facilities and urban areas to deliver Dance related activities to targeted areas of Torry. You will be responsible for the day to day running of the Streetsport Dance programme and coordination of marketing and promotional strategies related to the programme. You will have experience of leading activity sessions ranging from sport and in particular Dance to art within areas of Multiple Deprivation, have good communication skills, have a good basic health and safety knowledge and have a strong commitment to customer care. You will be up-to-date with all developments in the field and hold a full driving license. Relevant youth work qualifications and NGB coaching awards are also desirable. Enthusiasm and motivational skills are a must, as is the ability to relate well to youth’s from various backgrounds. Experience of working in a team but also using your own initiative is also imperative. Closing date: 21st October 2016 Interviews: 28th October 2016 Job Description RESPONSIBLE TO: Streetsport Development Officer RESPONSIBLE FOR: Streetdance Instructors and volunteers PRINCIPAL DUTIES: Assist the Streetsport Development Officer to ensure that the aims & objectives of the Streetsport Dance programme are met. Oversee the marketing, promotion and running of Streetsport Dance sessions/events. Have an understanding of Health & Safety procedures. Assist in volunteer management, recruitment and coordination. In collaboration with others strive to ensure that key targets for the project are met. Be prepared to work with and develop the potential of young persons in challenging situations. Commit to the principles of the Streetsport Dance project and Streetsport generally. Whenever possible promote the ethic of Streetsport. Build effective working relationships and co-operation with other managers and staff of all present and future partners involved in the project.
