Edinburgh College Job Description Technician Full time: 35 hours per week Location: Sighthill Permanent Salary: Band E £22,145 - £23,824 (appointment is usually made at the first point in the salary scale) We have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Technician to join a flexible team of professionals in supporting the provision of a quality teaching and learning environment at Edinburgh College. Electrical Engineering and Installation delivers a wide range of education and training across the college. This post is key in ensuring that staff and students are appropriately supported with preparation of learning materials by supporting the Electrical, Mechanical, and Automotive curriculums. Whilst being educated to HNC/D level/SVQ Level 3 in electrical engineering/installation is essential, you should also have served a time served apprenticeship and have good ICT and communication skills. Approved electrician status would be advantageous, and industry experience desirable. As part of this role, you will be required to carry out routine maintenance of equipment through regular stocktaking, so you must have experience in record keeping systems and procedures, servicing/repair and ensuring machinery and equipment is maintained correctly and operated in accordance with Safe Systems of Work (SSOW). You will also be required to assist in training and supervision of any new technician and/or work experience students, therefore a ‘can do’ attitude is required. While the Sighthill campus is the main base, the successful candidate may be required to work at any Edinburgh College campus.
