Cordant Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading Automotive business, recruiting for an experienced Automotive Manufacturing Shift Manager to join their front line management team at their site in the heart of South East England working on a 3 shift system Monday to Friday (6-2 Earlies/2-10 Lates/10-6 Nights). This is a key role with the Moulding department manufacturing & assembling plastic moulded parts for the UK's leading car brands. Automotive Manufacturing Shift Manager Job Specification Roles responsibilities: Responsible for effectively managing the shift personnel to achieve planned output levels, in line with key performance indicators for your specific department. Including Quality, Cost, Delivery of service & Health & Safety matters. Ensuring that production objectives and schedules are met in accordance with quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental standards. Liaising with other shift managers on the outgoing and incoming shifts to identify and manage shift production and personnel issues. Delivering effective team briefings and seek feedback from employees on key issues to ensure understanding of the company's and the department's goals and plans. Managing the overall performance of shift personnel in accordance with the company's performance management process in a fair and consistent way. Ensuring at all times that quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental procedures are fully adhered to in line with company policy Personally Identifying and eliminate the root causes of quality, cost, delivery, health, safety and environmental problems to prevent the recurrence of problems. Carrying out appropriate risk assessments on activities within area of responsibility and put effective risk controls in place to ensure safe working. Reporting and investigating accidents and near misses, and take corrective action within agreed time frames. Managing the induction and training of new / current shift personnel to ensure that people have the ability to perform their roles to the required standard. Ensue that training matrices and records are accurate and up-to-date. Manage headcount, time and attendance on your shift. Maintain standards of 5S workplace organisation. Managing quality and downtime concerns, using the escalation procedure when necessary. Prioritising and organising work to meet customer requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience: You will possess effective people management skills (induction, training, coaching, motivation, performance management, conflict resolution, attendance, return to work interviews, counselling, discipline) You will have effective Health, safety and environmental management skills (risk assessment, risk management, accident reporting, accident investigation). Quality management skills are a must (customer standards, quality procedures, product inspection, FMEA, mistake proofing, 8D problem solving, quality auditing). Experienced in continuous improvement (5S, 7 wastes, SMED). Professional communication skills (team briefing, shift reporting, assertiveness). Ability to work under pressure Literacy, numeracy and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
