Senior Architect Oxford Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 Full Company Benefits Job Ref: 19893 The job encompasses managing projects for the design of new buildings, the spaces in and around them as well as the restoration and conservation of old buildings and developing new ways of using existing buildings. Working across many sectors which include large scale housing projects for national developers; affordable housing; regeneration projects; care homes / care villages; hotels; leisure complexes; and commercial buildings. We specialise in Master Planning; high density mixed use urban design; multi storey buildings; prefabricated construction; and energy efficient / sustainable design and have a reputation for maximizing site value. Duties and responsibilities Design · Developing initial design ideas with the client to ascertain exact requirements, budget, building usage and impact on the local community and environment. · Assessing sites and preparing feasibility proposals. · Preparing detailed design proposals using computer-aided design (AutoCAD to show usage of space, what the building will look like in its environment and how it will be built. · Presenting the design proposals to clients. · Preparing planning applications and presentations. Project management · Specifying the nature and quality of materials required. · Negotiating with contractors and other professionals. · Co-ordinating the work of other colleagues, consultants and contractors. · Making site visits to check on progress and inspect work which may include some over-night stays. · Making sure that the project is running within the agreed time frame and budgets. Communication · Advising clients on the practicality of their project. · Meeting and liaising with clients and establishing good working relationships with necessary contacts. · Advising clients at all stages of a project on progress, timescales, etc. · Liaising with local planning, building control department and other statutory bodies and outside organisation. Skills · Be registered with the Architects Registration Board with at least two years post part 3 experience. · Have good drawing skills, with the ability to work in three dimensions (3D). · Use IT in design and project management, specifically using software packages such as Revit/ AutoCAD and Google Sketch Up. · Understand and having a knowledge of the legislation relevant to the construction industry and to specific building types when required. · Have good knowledge of the UK planning application process and UK Building Regulations. · Have a UK driving licence.
