We’re currently looking for a Senior Technical Analyst to join our Field Support Operations team. This team covers 2nd line operational work as well as 3rd line change projects. It means you can expect wide variety – you could be supporting our front line operations with access requests, handling loss-of-service incidents, managing and supporting regular systems maintenance or following up on problem investigation and recommendations for small-scale change. In terms of your 3rd line responsibilities, you’ll link in closely with our Business Analysts to provide technical solutions or internal enhancements, talking responsibility for the design, build and test of your solutions. The team supports all of our systems, and helps to resolve any issues that arise with third-party providers, so the technologies will be as varied as your responsibilities. Your role will involve designing technical solutions for changes of all sizes and complexities. That’s going to involve carrying out full impact and risk assessments before taking ownership of the end-to-end delivery of change across multiple functional and technical areas, right through into production environments. We’ll need you to coordinate a number of other Technical Analysts, to collate quality assurance and detailed estimates, and to oversee the effectiveness and completeness of technical design, documentation and quality assurance. Your responsibilities will also include planning and carrying out unit testing to make sure that all code is fit for purpose, following best practice development standards and guidelines, and providing technical expertise in at least one functional area. We’re looking for someone who won’t be afraid to challenge assumptions and who can identify and resolve conflicting design, supportability and quality issues. You’ll be able to meet delivery expectations even against a backdrop of changing priorities and you will relish the chance to lead your own ad hoc projects. Meanwhile, your extensive experience means you’ll be happy to help recruit new team members, to mentor our Technical Analysts and to represent the Service Management team at project meetings and business workshops. Required profile: Key Skill Requirements Essential: • Experience in large-scale client/server system development with the ability to work across all types of change and a breadth of business and application functions. • A flair for designing innovative, simple and effective solutions to address complex requirements, working consultatively with Business Analysts, senior managers and end-users at all levels. • Extensive specialist experience in multiple technology sets, including: PL/SQL, Unix Shell Script, .Net/C#, WCF, WebServices, and XML. • Subject matter expertise in various technical disciplines, including design, advanced coding techniques, hardware and software relationships, capacity management and planning. • An in-depth business and system knowledge covering the system purpose and the requirements for change. • Extensive analytical experience, an end-to-end understanding of support principles (including issue prioritisation, and incident and risk management), and the ability to apply this understanding to the project lifecycle, particularly handover. • An appreciation of business-critical requirements and impacts, direct experience of system design techniques and extensive exposure to performance tuning techniques. • Excellent networking, influencing and stakeholder management skills, an autonomous approach, plenty of initiative and a willingness to challenge, be challenged and accept compromise. • A calm approach (even under pressure), good mentoring skills and the ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences alike.
