Position: Vector Development Scientist - Downstream Process Development Salary - Competitive Location - Oxfordshire The Company A leader in the research and development of T cell-based Therapies for the treatment of Cancer. The company is rapidly growing in both the UK and USA and they have multiple early-phase clinical trials ongoing in oncology centre across both US and Europe. Role Responsibilities The role is to conduct scientific experiments as required within the Vector Development Group. Whilst initially requiring supervision by a more senior scientist, the job holder will develop further scientific skills to be able to work independently on routine experiments. The job holder will also be responsible for the interpretation of scientific results under the supervision of a senior scientist As the Vector Development Scientist you'll work on developing the process used to manufacture viral vectors for ex vivo genetic modification of T Cells. This includes evaluating new technologies to improve the existing platform process. Conducting downstream biological material purification technique such as column chromatography, tangential flow filtration to support scientists and the Group as a whole. Required Experience/ Skills Undergraduate degree in Lifesciences or related discipline, with at least 3 years relevant work experience. Ability to learn and develop in order to work independently on routine experiments within a reasonable time frame and with minimal supervision. Experience of live viral vector purification using column chromatography & tangential flow filtration methods. Computer literate, excellent numeracy and English language skills (both written and verbal), team player attitude. Basic experimental design skills, ability to follow protocols and use standard laboratory equipment. Attention to detail and good time management skills. Able to work independently after training. Desirable skills includes: viral vector production, mammalian cell culture, bioreactor, flow cytometry, ELISA, column chromatography, tangential flow filtration, real time PCR.
