My clients are looking for a talented individual to join our search engine development team. This is an opportunity to work closely with stakeholders responsible for content and sales to implement innovative solutions, enabling customers around the world to find and purchase images easily. In this role you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the search engine. You will work with stakeholders to improve the search and discovery experience for our customers, implementing innovative solutions that continue to scale well. Responsibilities Responsible for the development and maintenance of image search engine, using Solr. Working with stakeholders to continually improve the search experience for our customers. Supporting and maintaining a scalable, resilient search platform for indexing and searching a rapidly growing image collection. Identifying opportunities to improve performance and relevancy of search results. Collaborating with web development team on requirements for new search features for customers and contributors Essential knowledge and Experience Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms and object orientated design. Strong Java programming experience. Ability to deliver a solution from the ground-up "hands on". A passion for solving challenging problems involving big data. Good written and spoken English. Able to communicate with non-technical colleagues and management to explain complex issues clearly and concisely. Ability to work well under pressure and to strict timescales. Highly organised and able to work on own initiative. Desired Knowledge and Experience Experience of using and working with Solr. Experience of tuning the relevancy of results from Solr. Experience of machine learning and natural language parsing. Experience of working on a large scalable architecture.
