Ochil Tower School Ochil Tower School A Camphill Community Senior Residential Child Care Worker. Salary £21,787 for 48 hours per week £27.007 for 60 hours per week This position is for 38 weeks a year, divided over 4 school terms. Ochil Tower School is a residential school for twenty eight pupils and ten day pupils. The school provides care and education to young people between the ages of eight to eighteen, who have a range of complex additional support needs. Our primary aim is to provide the optimum environment and the appropriate context for learning for each young person so that they can become active, engaged and confident learners. All staff contribute to creating the life-sharing community approach which is a particularly strong nurturing feature of our school and which underpins our Social Pedagogical practice. At the heart of this practice is the pedagogic relationship.This is an authentic professional relationship which draws on the personal identity of the individual to create for the young person a supportive, trusting, positive contact which helps them to grow, develop and learn. As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker you will work alongside the House Coordinator providing care and education in the house as part of the 24-hour curriculum. This includes being involved with the direct care of children and young people on a daily basis, often acting as a keyworker, support ing the team in compiling individual Care and Education Plans, termly SMART aims, reports to reviews, annual reports etc. and providing support and supervision to staff, some of whom will be young volunteers, as well as liais ing with families and external professionals. It is intended that this post will develop into the role of Assistant House Co o rdinator. The qualifications and experience that you will require are HNC in Social Care, and SVQ3 Children and Young People. SVQ4 would be desirable or a commitment to work ing towards it. Other relevant qualifications will be considered. A m inimum of 3 years experience of working with c hildren and y oung p eople with a dditional s upport n eeds is essential.
