• To assist with the planning of the curriculum using the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum for guidance. • To act as a key person to a small group of children, liaising closely and building an effective relationship with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met. • Work in partnership with parents/carers. • To advise the Nursery Manager of any concerns e.g., concerns about children, parents or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary. • To help children learn, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulating play experiences and ensure that they are kept safe and that you understand when to follow child protection procedures. • To actively participate at team meetings, supervisor meetings and appraisal meetings and attend training as required. • To respect confidentiality and operational policies and procedures, e.g., health and safety, fire precautions, dropping off and collection of children, food safety, cleanliness of the setting etc. • To ensure that adequate records are kept and updated regularly. • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Pre-school Manager in accordance with the setting’s business plan/objectives. • Specific duties included in the post of N.V.Q Level 3 Student Placement . • To report directly to the Nursery Manager/Deputy as appropriate. • To complete activity plan sheets as agreed with your team leader, ensuring they are signed, dated and evaluated appropriately. • To consult with the Manager or Deputy on all matters relating to the welfare of the children and staff supervised by you and effective practice. • Ensure that you are up to date with the Early Years Foundations Stage. • Ensure that the staff team is up to date with the Welfare Requirements & Children Act. • Ensure the allocated areas of responsibility within the setting are kept clean and tidy in accordance with the health & safety requirements. • To act in a professional and responsible manner in all aspects of the nursery service. • Carry out supervision of peer and child observations. • To give the children your full and undivided attention, keeping personal and unnecessary chit chat to a minimum.
