Overall purpose of the role The role requires an individual who will be responsible for scheduling & implementing both electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks and repairs within all areas of the BDR facility. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager and be responsible for supervising the engineering team maintaining both mobile and static plant and machinery to ensure utmost reliability and safety whilst reducing downtime. Working as part of a team, they must be flexible and willing to perform tasks outside of the role description. Ensuring health & safety and environmental compliance and contributing to continuous improvement in productivity and plant availability. Effective communication with the shanks management team of all site related issues/improvements is a key requirement of this role. Main responsibilities Provide high operational availability, and an efficient breakdown repair service. Diagnosis running faults and ensuring effective repairs and improvements are conducted within minimum time scale. · Ensure productivity and availability exceeds minimum defined standards, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations. · Develop and implement a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and develop engineered solutions to these issues. · Lead team projects and update management on progress · To liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work. · Keep abreast of changes to health & safety and environmental legislation and Company policies to ensure defined standards and best practice are implemented. · Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes and procedures. · Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required. · Undertaking any other such reasonable job related tasks as the Company may require. · Organise parts required for stock/assets · Ensure compliance with team for site SOP’s, RA’s and single point lessons Value added by this role · Consistently ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance and operational effectiveness in line with company standards. · Reduce breakdowns by proactively managing planned maintenance. · Increase operational uptime through continuous improvement. · Keep constant flow of information through teams · Ensure all information relating to engineering tasks is passed through the shift handovers · Internally audit team reactive and planned tasks Training / Qualifications Essential: · Minimum GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English · Time served Electrical/mechanical Engineer · Experience as multi skilled craft or position of similar responsibility · Proven track record of working to clearly defined KPIs · Proven track record of delivering continuous improvement within an operational environment · Implementation of new processes and developments · Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of working within a time critical process environment · IT literate – comfortable using business software and systems · Good time management skills · Organised with the ability to simplify complex issues Desirable: · IOSH or other safety qualifications · ILM/CMI qualification · HNC or above · Hydraulic and pneumatic qualifications · Ability to operate wheeled shovels or similar will be advantageous · Understanding of MBT/AD process · Understanding of EA and ABPR regulations · Knowledge of existing and impending environmental and health and safety legislation Key relationships: § Working with Senior Operational Manager, RWTF/MRF Managers and operational staff. § Managing contractors and Site visitors § Dealing with suppliers and technology partners The successful candidate will work 40 hours a week Monday to Friday Days.
