Planning & Purchasing Manager – (6 Month FTC) Location: East Yorkshire Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience, plus benefits Our client is a leading manufacturing and technical company and who now have an excellent opportunity for a Planning & Purchasing Manager to join their team – initially on a 6 month fixed term contract. The main purpose of your role will be to oversee the optimal planning of manufacturing resources and material supply to ensure the on time delivery and flexibility required to meet global customer demand. You will develop and implement supply strategies which minimise overall cost (transportation and storage) and inventory levels, whilst ensuring that the flexibility in supply is maintained to meet a regularly changing forecast. Responsibilities Collating monthly forecasts for all Group territories Generating short and medium / long term capacity plans ensuring the efficient use of production staff and equipment whilst achieving OTIF and optimal inventory levels (raw materials, WIP and finished goods) Create the data pack for the Operations cross functional monthly meeting and chairing this meeting. Participates in and supports territory S&OP meetings / telecoms Overall responsibility for material supply. Including hands-on management of some suppliers and contributing to the assessment and evaluation of suppliers Develop and maintain good working relations with suppliers; responsible for organising regular Business review with key suppliers Responsible for EOL, obsolescence and slow moving stock processes ensuring the company is left with minimal liability and waste Project manage new product introduction / product changes from R&D into Production Initiate and supports the implementation of process improvements and develops a culture of continuous improvement within team The successful candidate will need to have previous experience working as a Planning & Purchasing Manager – preferably within a manufacturing with knowledge of electronic product running a planning process using S&OP, candidates who are CIPS certification would be of advantage.
