Commis Chef The Commis Chef Role You will be an integral part of our Brigade, assisting the Chef de Partie in the preparation and service of high quality food ensuring that the highest standards are maintained at all times. You will gain great experience with opportunities to work alongside our Banqueting and Restaurant Brigades. Key responsibilities of the Commis Chef will include: • Assisting the CDPs & Sous Chefs in the preparation and cooking of food • Assisting in the general day to day running of the kitchen. • Ensuring that food is prepared and presented to the highest standards as required by the hotel. • Produce food as directed by the Chef de Partie and to present it at the times required. • To be fully conversant with all Bar, Banqueting and Floor Service menus, in particular items which are the responsibility of your section and of their recipes and quantities. • To advise Chef de Partie /Sous Chef of any irregularities in stock control and support with rotation of stocks and correct storage procedures. • To work in close liaison with all sections within the Kitchen to ensure an efficient service. • To carry out any reasonable request as directed by the Executive Head Chef. This role is an opportunity for a Chef to move up in their career as you will gain excellent experience of working in a kitchen. The Ideal Candidate You will need to be fully aware and able to comply with the following: Hotel Evacuation procedures Health & Hygiene Policy and Procedures Food Hygiene Regulations Health & Safety Procedures Current Licensing Regulations Methods of payment Short and Long Term Marketing Promotions Maintains a safe and hygienic work environment Accident report procedure Hazard procedures Disability Discrimination Data Protection Weights & Measures Act Experience working within a busy kitchen in the same or a similar role is essential, and it would be advantageous for this to have been in a hotel kitchen. We are looking for someone with a real passion for food and the drive to succeed in a new role. Due to the nature of the work, the ideal candidate would be fully flexible in their approach to work and be able to work shift pattern through weekdays and weekends.
