This is a superb opportunity for someone with a strong technical background and exceptional management skills, to play a key role in leading the development team within one of the UK’s most recognisable online brands. Development Manager: About the Role This development team is committed to developing high quality solutions to the business. As Development Manager, you will be responsible for the line management and leadership of the team, ensuring that development and release processes are followed and initiating process improvements. You will facilitate daily scrums, retrospectives and sprint planning, and will be involved in estimation and planning with senior team members to remove or escalate impediments. Although this is not a hands-on, technical lead role, you will need to have a good understanding of .NET / SQL Server / web applications, in order to ensure your team is working as effectively as possible. This role would suit someone with a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate a team of developers within a fast paced, Agile environment. Development Manager: Key Skills and Experience Exceptional leadership skills. A proven track record in managing a team of developers. A strong understanding of both Agile and Waterfall software development principles and experience of managing a SCRUM development process. Experience of working on building a software product would be beneficial. A strong technical background in Microsoft technologies (C# .NET / SQL Server) – although this isn’t a hands-on technical role, you will need to have enough technical understanding to be able to get the best out of the developers. Excellent communication skills and proven stakeholder management abilities The ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and third party suppliers Exceptional problem solving abilities, and a proven track record of recognising opportunities for process improvements, and instigating these improvements. A good understanding of the full project lifecycle.
