Our Cambridge based client is looking for a Hardware Design Engineer to work as part of their engineering team. You will contribute to the development of leading-edge technologies for the next generation of resilient optical switching products for the communications industry. The role will include the design, development, implementation, testing and support of the photonic switch products. You will have experience of complete hardware design cycle from concept through to manufacturing release and a degree in Electronics or Electrical and Electronic Engineering with at least 10 years industrial experience, preferably in a telecommunications environment, with a proven track record of delivering complex products against demanding timescales. You will have experience of FPGA design using VHDL and a good working knowledge of circuit design using a mixture of both analogue and digital electronics along with experience of complex PCB designs using a mixture of analogue and digital electronics. Additionally, experience of high-speed digital design, DSP, firmware, data conversion, telecommunication systems, analogue electronics and design for EMC would be advantageous. Responsibilities Design & implementation of hardware design, using schematic capture, for both digital and analogue electronics. Validation testing and qualification of resilient hardware and firmware designs. Test tool development for commissioning and manufacture.
